Makes: 9
Preparation time: 25 minutes plus approximately 2 hours rising time
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients for the dough:
300g (10½oz) strong white flour
1 x 7g sachet fast action dried yeast
2 tbsp SPLENDA® Granulated
125ml (4floz) warm milk
75g (2¾oz) butter, melted
1 egg, beaten
Ingredients for the filling:
50g (1¾oz) butter, melted
150g (5½oz) mixed dried fruit
Ingredients for the glaze:
1 tbsp milk
2 tsp maple syrup
1 tbsp SPLENDA® Granulated
Method:
1 Lightly grease a 20cm (8in) square baking tin.
2 Place the flour and yeast in a large bowl.
3 Stir the SPLENDA® Granulated into the milk and add to the bowl with the flour. Also add the butter and the beaten egg. Mix to a stiff dough.
4 Turn out onto a floured work surface and knead for 3-4 minutes. Return to the bowl, cover and leave in a warm place for about an hour until doubled in size.
5 Knead the dough again for 1-2 minutes then roll into an oblong approx 30cmx20cm (12inx8in). Brush the melted butter over the dough and scatter over the dried fruit. Roll up from the longest side and slice into 9 rounds. Place the rounds, cut side up in the tin and leave to rise until doubled in size. (Approximately 2 hours)
6 Preheat the oven to190°C/170°C Fan/Gas Mark 5.
7 Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden. Mix together the glaze ingredients and brush over the warm buns. Leave in the tin to cool.
